Working on Sara VanDerWerf’s 100 numbers group work task during Extended Learning Time today. Only intended to do two rounds, but everyone insisted on a third! Awesome collaboration from my awesome students!
I forgot to get a picture today! Fortunately, I took pictures of my randomized seats for each class period. This was the first Monday of the school year, so it was the first time I randomized the seats. Although students weren’t exactly thrilled, it went mostly okay. I know a lot of people like to do random grouping daily, but I prefer to give my students a consistent group for an entire week. I think it helps build relationships, and it forces them to engage with their group members rather than just waiting for a “better” group the next day. It worked for me last year. Here’s to another good year of random groups!
Working on the handshake problem at the end of a great first week.
Some great fraction discussions today as well as some awesome Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces work with sequences!
